Reading format

To assess your claim, the unemployment insurance fund (ALK) may request information about your employment. The employer certificate is a form intended for this purpose. First clarify with your fund which current version and documents it needs in your case.

1. Distinguish the right form

The official SECO page on unemployment benefit forms lists employer certificate 10006 separately from interim earnings certificate 10018. It also states that the international area, including the international employer certificate, was not moved to the same new process. These are not interchangeable names for the same document.

Use the current link on the official page or the documents provided by your fund. Do not rely on an old saved template. For international circumstances, ask explicitly which procedure applies.

2. Ask your employer early

Ask the responsible HR or payroll team for the required certificate early. Specify the employment relationship and clarify when the information can be complete. Keep the request and reply. If the fund has given you a deadline, communicate it; do not invent an official deadline from a blog example.

If the certificate does not arrive or information is missing, tell your fund about the situation. Ask which documents you should already submit and how the gap can be resolved. A missing certificate does not justify a blanket statement here about entitlement or a fixed payment date.

3. Check details and attachments against the form

The currently linked form 10006 asks, among other things, about the duration and type of employment, termination and earnings. It lists attachments such as the employment contract, termination letter and wage documents where requested. Work through the actual version fully; this overview does not replace its individual questions.

Employers should enter truthful information from their records and clarify uncertainties. Employees should raise apparent errors or missing details. Do not add guessed figures to an employer’s confirmation yourself.

4. Do not infer payment effects from individual details

Wage components, leaving payments or outstanding claims must be stated accurately according to the form’s questions. Clarify with the fund whether and how holiday or overtime compensation is considered in your case. Such a payment alone does not establish a specific benefit start date here.

The form warns that unanswered questions and incomplete attachments can require further enquiries and cause delays. Complete documents still do not constitute a promise of a particular benefit or date.

Your quick document check

  • Has the fund specified the correct form and submission route?
  • Has the employer been contacted, and are missing details known?
  • Are required attachments, questions and deadlines recorded?
